What We Do

Kids in foster care are often forgotten. 

They go into the system having experienced abuse, abandonment, and neglect. These children are carrying heavy emotional baggage, more than most adults will ever have to deal with.

Their defensive walls get built up pretty fast and pretty high.  They are survivors in a world that doesn't seem to care about them.

But we do.

That's why we offer Royal Family Kids Camp, a one-week overnight summer camp program designed specifically for the unique needs of children, ages 7-11, who have suffered trauma and separation in their young lives. For 5 days, we want them to feel safe, have fun, and experience unconditional love, so they can relax and just be a kid!

 

With a strict 2 children-to-1-counselor ratio, we surround our campers with caring and trained adults who genuinely value each and every child, demonstrating to them what 'healthy' relationships look like and filling them with positive memories the campers will carry with them the rest of their lives.

 

We are fortunate to have many former campers come back and work as staff members at RFK.  In the words of one former camper, "You have made me who I am today."
